Noisy Vizsla: Getting to the Root of the Problem

Vizslas are dogs known for their qualities and characteristics. One of the most outstanding aspects of this canine is its high level of physical activity and the skills it presents during the hunt. They are very active and energetic dogs that need to run, jump, or exercise every day.

Noisy Vizsla: Getting to the Root of the Problem

This dog’s personality is sensitive as it can become anxious if its owner leaves it alone for a long time. That means that a Vizsla needs to spend a lot of time with its owner or members of its human family as it hates loneliness.

In addition, this canine can present destructive behavior if the person leaves it alone at home. This way of acting is due to the fact that it tries to release all the accumulated energy because, as we have said before, they are animals that need to do any physical activity outdoors regularly.

This breed of dog is not usually noisy. However, there are several factors that could cause your Vizsla to be loud either through barking or growling. This situation can be frustrating for the owners of these pets and the rest of the family, friends, neighbors, strangers, and even other animals. Therefore, it is essential to get to the root of the problem so that you know how to solve it even if it is complicated.

It should be noted that this behavior usually occurs in older Vizslas because they are more prone to certain situations that they cannot control.

Reasons Why a Vizsla is Noisy

There are several reasons why a Vizsla or any other dog will bark or growl excessively. Many of them are understandable, while others are not. That is why it is essential to know them in detail to understand how to solve the situation in the future.

Loneliness

It is the most common cause of noisy Vizsla. As we said initially, this breed of dog hates loneliness, so they must spend most of their time together with their loved ones (owner or human family members). If its owner leaves it alone for a long time, the pet may begin to experience separation anxiety and thus feel sad. Not only can that be bad for its health, but it will also cause it to start barking excessively

Boredom and Frustration

It is another of the most common reasons that cause our Vizsla to become noisy. Vizslas are characterized by being active and energetic animals that require daily exercise. They need to be outdoors most of the day, whether running, jumping, playing, or doing any other physical activity.

However, if its owner leaves it at home while he or she goes to work, it could become destructive and begin to bark or growl loudly and excessively. That’s in large part because Vizslas are easily bored dogs and need to entertain themselves through any activity constantly.

Additionally, frustration can also cause a Vizsla to bark excessively. This situation happens when it is trying to do some activity and cannot do it. The dog will start to get frustrated, causing it to bark and growl loudly.

Excitement

A noisy Vizsla is not always due to a negative situation. When a dog of this type is excited, it can bark happily to express it. There are many things that can get the Vizslas excited:

  • Walks in the park.
  • Treats.
  • Being with their owners or members of their human family.
  • Petting.
  • Games with their loved ones.

Protection

Vizslas are known to have a protective instinct when they notice that a member of their human family might be in danger. These dogs are usually shy, but they can get very loud barking and growling when it comes to protecting their owners. Generally, they use their barking as a way to warn you of danger.

It should be noted that sometimes this situation can also occur through confusion. If a person that your dog has never seen visits your house, it is likely that it thinks it is a danger for you, so it will start barking loudly to scare that person away.

Pain

This situation occurs mostly when the Vizsla is aging. The body of an old dog begins to deteriorate over the years. It is a natural aging process, so it is normal for the canine to start experiencing discomfort and pain in its organs, muscles, and joints.

Loud and excessive barking and growling are ways of communicating to its owner that it is in pain. These situations usually occur at any time of the day but are usually more annoying at night since the noise will bother the neighbors.

Needs

Vizslas cannot communicate with us through human language. Therefore, the only way to let us know that it needs something is through barking and growling. If they need to eat, play, or relieve themselves (urinate or defecate), then they will not hesitate to bark loudly for you to attend to them.

It should be noted that all the causes that we have mentioned and explained above can be aggravated if the Vizsla is old since these situations tend to affect them more.

How to Prevent Our Vizsla from Being Noisy?

Many people often use inappropriate methods to solve this situation, but all they achieve is to make it worse. There are several effective methods that can help your Vizsla feel better and thereby prevent it from barking or growling excessively.

  • If your dog is barking for any of the reasons mentioned above, then you must remain patient. Don’t yell at your Vizsla, and don’t use aggressive methods against it. Use a firm voice and commands, so it knows when to stop barking.
  • Reward your dog with treats when it learns to listen to your commands and stops growling or barking.
  • Train your dog physically and mentally every day. That will keep you entertained and happy as they love doing activities with their owners forgetting about their noisy behavior.
