Large dog breeds mixed with Chihuahuas don’t happen by accident. Because of their small sizes, Chihuahuas have to be artificially bred with most other breeds to get a mix. For this reason, you don’t get as many accidental mixed breeds with Chihuahuas as other dogs.

About Vizslas

Vizslas were once a fairly rare dog breed, and are now growing in population due to the high demand for them. It’s not entirely sure what has now caused the boom in desirability for this breed outside of hunting, but it is a good choice. 

Vizslas are incredibly loyal to their owner and connect with people in their families rather quickly as long as they are treated well. They are careful around children and are good with strangers and guests in the home. They are also very intelligent, so they need a lot of mental stimulation, and can pick up tricks quite fast. 

Their major downside is that they are excessively attached to their owner most of the time. They are often known as “velcro dogs” thanks to their hatred of being alone. So they may not be ideal for someone who is often busy and away from the house. 

Because of their history as waterfowl retrievers, most Vizsla enjoy being in the water. They are great companions if you want to go kayaking, paddleboarding, or just for a swim. A Vizsla is full of energy and makes a great companion for anyone that enjoys being outside. 

While Vizslas come in a few different shades, the colors are all very similar. They have some form of golden-red fur that may lean more towards red or gold, and may be lighter or darker. 

Though they are highly in demand now, they have almost gone extinct several times. They have a long history and have been reported as early as the 14th century. During that time, there were three times these dogs were almost gone, with the last one being World War Two, where by the end of it, there were only 12 pure-bred Vizslas left.

Chihuahuas are given a pretty bad rap. They are known by many for being aggressive, uncontrollable dogs that are more like feral rats than a pet. Unfortunately, this can be very true of this breed, but only when they aren’t given the love and attention they need. 

They are often treated more like accessories than pets, which can make them irritable and act out. They are the smallest dog breed out there, and can easily get intimidated if they are always surrounded by bigger animals and people without being given any space of their own. 

Chihuahuas are also often considered clan dogs. They tend to do better with other Chihuahuas rather than any other dog breed, and having another Chihuahua around can help with their behavior a lot. 

While the Chihuahua was given this name from the region it was found, Chihuahua, Mexico, some people think that they might have originally come from an Asian country, where small dogs were more common. 

Another interesting fact about Chihuahuas is that there are wild packs running through the United States. Areas like Phoenix, Arizona, and San Francisco Bay have experienced large packs of Chihuahuas roaming around and causing havoc.

If you want a Vizsla without the size or the energy requirements, a Vizchi may be for you. While they still need a lot of exercise for their size, it is significantly less than the Vizsla. While not much is known about these mixes, there is a lot of affection for them, so they may soon become much more popular. 

It is hard to describe what they look like, as they are so rare and aren’t standardized in the least. However, they will have some mix of the traits of both parent breeds. It is likely they will look most like Vizslas except for in stature, as this is the case for many Chihuahua mixes. 

Are Vizchis Good With Strangers?

Unlike the Vizsla, Vizchis may be a little more standoffish around strangers. They need to get plenty of socialization early on to know that reacting isn’t accepted. Socialization with both animals and humans will be a good way to make sure that your dog stays calm in many situations.

Are Vizchis Good at Being Alone?

Vizchis are likely going to be dogs that need to have someone with them. Vizslas suffer a lot from separation anxiety, and constantly need people around. While Chihuahuas aren’t quite this bad, they do still enjoy having their owner around and don’t do well on their own. 

For this reason, it is probably best that you don’t get this dog mix if you are a single person with a busy schedule. They do best in large families where someone is always home or with someone that works from home and will be in the house a lot.
