Vizslas Cross Breeds: In-depth Guide

Crossbreeding consists of the union of two or more dogs of different breeds with the aim of obtaining a canine with the temperamental and physical characteristics of its parents. Many people are dedicated to crossing breeds of this type of animal.

Not all people agree that this process is carried out since it endangers the female dog’s health. That, in turn, leads to puppies being born with health problems.

The most natural thing is to cross our dogs with others of the same breed. However, over the years, experiments have been carried out with different breeds to obtain canines with specific properties.

Vizslas Crossbreed

The Vizslas are one of the breeds that have been crossed during history with other types of canines. The animals that have been used in this process are:

  • American Staffordshire Terrier
  • German Wirehaired Pointer
  • Labrador Retriever
  • Transylvanian Hound

The results of breeds originated with each of these combinations are:

Vizsla Staff (Vizsla and American Staffordshire Terrier)

This breed has been created thanks to the crossing of a Vizsla and an American Staffordshire Terrier. It is a dog with an elegant appearance but with a strong and athletic body. Depending on their genetics, this breed can develop stocky bones like those of the American Staffordshire Terrier or thin bones like those of the Vizsla.

The male Vizsla Staff can be between 21 inches (53.34 cm) and 23 inches (58.42 cm) tall while the female ones are between 20 inches (50.8 cm) and 22 inches (55.88 cm). These animals can weigh between 50 lbs (22.67 kg) and 55 lbs (24.94 kg) in the case of males, while those of the opposite sex between 45 lbs (20.41 kg) and 50 lbs (22.67 kg).

The head of this canine is broad and robust. The muzzle is medium, the eyes are brown or black, and the ears can be small and pointed (or large and flexible). This animal has a long and strong tail. Its coat is short, and its color can be the same as that of a Vizsla or an American Staffordshire Terrier.

The Vizsla Staff is an intelligent, active, and energetic dog that needs to exercise daily. They are very loving and affectionate animals towards the members of their human family as well as strangers and other animals. However, it is necessary to train them beforehand so that they can trust strangers.

The result of this breed is due to the mixture of a Vizsla and a German Wirehaired Pointer. It is a medium-sized dog with a robust and muscular body, wide chest, and long, well-proportioned legs. The ears of this canine are medium and hanging, and the eyes are oval (brown or amber).

The size of the German Wirehaired Pointing Vizsla is between 23 inches (58.42 cm) and 25 inches (63.5 cm), while the female one can measure between 21 inches (53.34 cm) and 24 inches (60.96 cm). On the other hand, the weight of a male of this breed can vary between 55 lb (24.94 kg) and 65 lb (29.48 kg), and that of the female one between 45 lb (20.41 kg) and 55 lb (24.94 kg).

The coat is 1 or 2 inches long. It features a smooth inner layer and a dense outer layer. It is usually brown or reddish in color.

This breed is very energetic and teachable. German Wirehaired Pointing Vizslas like to learn and obey their owners. In addition, they are athletic, so they need to do various activities every day. They are affectionate with children and are therefore considered excellent pets for families. Similarly, not being aggressive, they are friendly to both close and strangers.

Labralas (Vizsla and Labrador Retriever)

The Labralas was created due to the combination of the Vizsla and the Labrador Retriever. This canine features a long body with straight, muscular legs. It has large brown eyes (sometimes amber in color), hanging, flexible ears, and a long snout with a black nose

The size of a male Labralas varies between 22 inches (55.88 cm) and 26 inches (66.04 cm), while the opposite sex of this breed can measure between 21 inches (53.34 cm) and 25 inches (63.5 cm). The weight of a male Labralas ranges from 60 lbs (27.21 kg) to 80 lbs (36.28 kg) while the female one can weigh between 55 lbs (24.94 kg) and 75 lbs (34.01 kg).

This breed needs daily physical activities. Adult Labralas should exercise at least 60 to 90 minutes a day. They are very loving and friendly to the members of their human family. They like to be hugged and caressed. When they are not with their loved ones, they feel anxiety and concern.

Transylvizsla Hound (Vizsla and Transylvanian Hound)

Transylvizsla Hound is a practically new breed produced from the mix between a Vizsla and a Transylvanian Hound. They have an elegant appearance and a well-proportioned and toned body. This dog’s head is rectangular, its ears hang, its legs are long, and they have a medium-sized tail.

The height of a male Transylvizsla Hound is between 21 inches (53.34 cm) and 24 inches (60.96 cm), while that of a female one is between 18 inches (20.32 cm) and 21 inches (53.34 cm). On the other hand, male dogs of this breed weigh between 65 lbs (29.48 kg) and 75 lbs (34.01 kg) while a female Transylvizsla Hound weighs between 60 lbs (27.21 kg) and 65 lbs (29.48 kg).

This breed likes to learn new activities and rules. They can be mischievous, so it is essential that you train them and let them know that you are the owner of the pack. Unlike the other crossbreeds, this one must be prepared well before interacting with children.
