They are pets that have a high level of physical activity and therefore require daily training and exercise sessions. The Pug, unlike other small breed dogs, is not very friendly. Although they can display a not-so-kind personality at times, they are really affectionate, especially towards their human family. Vizsla vs Pug: History 

The Vizsla had its origin in Hungary. The Magyar tribe used these canines as hunting dogs. This wonderful breed of dog was adopted by Hungarian royalty in the 10th century. After the terrible events of World War I, these dogs were close to extinction. According to various theories, it is estimated that only 12 Vizslas remained, but thanks to the help of lovers of these animals, they survived until today. 

According to many research and theories, the Pug dog breed is said to be native to China. Many people associate them with the Netherlands because, at that time, they were transported by ships to that country by Dutch merchants. From there, they spread throughout Europe. These dogs were very famous as they were pets that belonged to renowned dukes and princes. 

Vizsla vs Pug: Physical Characteristics 

Vizslas are characterized by being a large breed of dog. Males can reach a height between 56 cm and 66 cm while females between 51 cm and 61 cm. The weight of a male Vizsla varies between 20 kg and 27 kg while the female can weigh between 18 kg and 25 kg. It should be noted that the height and weight of this dog will depend on the diet and lifestyle that its owners provide. 

This breed of dog is known for having a beautiful short, hard, rusty-golden coat. Vizslas have a muscular, slim, and well-proportioned body. The skull of these dogs is thick and slightly domed. They have floppy ears and a broad nose which has a reddish color that blends in with their skin.

Besides, their eyes can be brown or amber, which matches their fur. An interesting fact is that when these dogs are born, they usually have a light eye color (blue or gray). 

On the other hand, Pug dogs are characterized by their small size. Unlike Vizslas, these canines usually average the same size regardless of whether it is a male or female. That means that a Pug can measure between 25 cm and 36 cm and have a weight that varies between 6 kg and 9 kg. It is important to note that its growth will depend on its diet and care. 

The body of this canine is short and compact. It has a large round head without indentations in the skull. Their skin is wrinkled, and they usually present colors such as black, silver, and apricot.

The muzzle of a Pug is short and square. Their ears are small and thin and can be of two types: rose and button. The eyes of this breed are large and round and are usually dark in color. 

Vizsla vs Pug: Personality and Behavior 

The personality of a Vizsla is their most characteristic attribute and is one of the reasons why families love them. These animals are very affectionate both with people and with animals. Pug dogs are easy to train, but it is essential to be careful about the type of training that is provided as they are very sensitive. In fact, it is recommended that they only get 20 minutes of exercise a day. Mental stimulation is also something that we must take into account when training this canine. They should not be left alone for a long time as they can become destructive. 

Vizsla vs Pug: Life Expectancy 

Both breeds usually have the same life expectancy, which is between 12 and 15 years. However, it is important to note that the life of each one can be lengthened or shortened depending on the care and feeding provided by their owners.
